NUMBER 20
Almost fifty years of business and success in the International markets allowed Casalgrande Padana and its Research Centre to gather and use an incredible amount of knowledge and competence; thanks to this, it not only developed a number of innovative products and avant-garde technical solutions, but also to proactively provide a response to the inputs coming from the environment, e.g self-cleaning materials that contribute to decrease pollution and can develop high-efficacy anti-bacterial charges.Bios is a member of the latter family of ceramic products, which we define as the most advanced and innovative.Based on the deployment of natural mineral particles that cause an extremely effective anti-bacterial reaction, Bios is a fully-vitrified, through body porcelain stoneware tile line developed after the research carried out by Casalgrande Padana in bundle with the Department of Biomedical Science,Microbiology, of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
This issue of "Percorsi in Ceramica" is entirely devoted to Bios; it tells its story and highlights its most significant features: research, reference issues, testing, result control and assessment, production process, product features, application
potential and the first, crucial project.
