Casalgrande Padana’s innovative range of ultra-thin porcelain stoneware tiles features products with a thickness of between 6.5 mm and just 4.9 mm. These ultra-thin formats are available for tiles from the Cemento, Marmoker, Onici, Pietre Etrusche, Pietre di Paragone and Pietre di Sardegna collections, including the large 160x320 cm, 120x260 cm, 120x240 cm, 120x120 cm and 60x120 cm versions. These special tiles can be combined with regular flooring tiles from the same collections, offering identical aesthetics, calibre and modularity while delivering a sense of lightness, ductility and versatility, making them perfect for contemporary design needs.
Thinner and more versatile
Designed primarily for use in renovation projects, as a way of making it easier to redo tiling and flooring without having to remove the existing materials, our ultra-thin porcelain stoneware tiles can be used in any context where thin, lightweight materials are required. From residential settings to commercial buildings and the tertiary sector, these ceramic tiles open up new design possibilities not only in terms of their function and technical attributes, but also from an aesthetic point of view.
The compatibility of our modular, regular-thickness tiles with these ultra-thin tiles multiplies the scope for creativity at the fingertips of the designer, allowing for stylistic and visual continuity between different spaces and ensuring that the tiles can be used for flooring and tiling in a variety of settings, including complex technical applications such as façade cladding, large projects such as street furniture and the naval, wellness and residential sectors.
Internal flooring and tiling
Our ultra-thin porcelain stoneware tiles can become key elements in your home, adding the finishing touch to kitchens, bathrooms, tables, side tables, cabinets, wardrobes, doors, dividing walls, windowsills and even garden furniture. They can create a feel of continuity between the flooring and other tiling, both indoors and outside. They're also ideal for the nautical sector, for furnishing large cruise ships or stunning yachts. Essentially, they’re the perfect choice for any setting where you want an elegant, lightweight material that is easy to work with and delivers high levels of performance.
Our porcelain stoneware products are non-absorbent and easy to clean and maintain. They are all treated with Bios Antibacterial technology, which ensures a hygienic material. The tiles are resistant to stains, scratches, impacts, abrasions, fire, bending, freezing, wear and tear and all the most aggressive chemical agents (with the sole exception of hydrofluoric acid). Our products are fully recyclable, are not affected by changes intemperature, do not deform, guarantee high levels of mechanical resistance, do not change over time and do not age.
External tiling
Our ultra-thin tiles can be used for external wall tiling, just like any other porcelain stoneware tile of regular thickness. The tiles allow designers to consider innovative architectural and technological solutions when it comes to façade cladding for both new builds and redevelopment projects and can be laid with adhesive in the traditional manner or simply laid over existing cladding. They are easier to lay than regular tiles on account of their lightness, especially when it comes to the larger formats.
Exterior insulation is a technique used to increase the thermal and acoustic insulation of the walls of a building. It involves applying thermal insulating panels to the outside of a wall rather than inside the wall itself, thus creating an external covering which cuts thermal bridges - a cause of heat loss - and reduces condensation and mould, as well as providing important protection for the underlying layers.
The simplicity involved in applying exterior insulation covered with ultra-thin tiles means that the technique is used in both new builds and redevelopment projects in the residential, commercial and tertiary sectors, delivering significant improvements in terms of energy performance and aesthetics.
Lightweight, frost-resistant, non-absorbent and easy to clean and maintain, our ultra-thin porcelain stoneware tiles are extremely resistant to wear and tear, abrasions, chemicals, atmospheric agents and pollutants. Moreover, the special Bios Self-Cleaning® treatment means that whenever the tiles are exposed to sunlight, a reaction occurs which reduces bacteria and pollutants present in the air, as well as breaking down dirt on the surface of the tiles so this can be removed by rainwater, something facilitated by the highly water-repellent surface of the tiles.

Advantages
There are many different benefits involved in using ultra-thin porcelain stoneware tiles, particularly as regards redevelopment projects and construction work where it’s important to add as little weight as possible to the building. The main benefits include: the simple laying process, which does not require the removal of existing materials; reduced execution times, meaning spaces can be opened for use more quickly; removal of typical issues in redevelopment; elimination of costs involved in removing and disposing of existing flooring or tiling; the limited work required to modify or prepare existing materials and structures (i.e. removing doors or windows, repairing areas subject to high footfall, etc.); the ease which with the tiles can be handled, cut, drilled and moved; the way the ultra-thin tiles match the aesthetics, technical attributes and performance of regular tiles, thus making it possible to combine the two materials; the simplicity with which the tiles can be cleaned and maintained; the reduced weight on the supporting structure; the reduced environmental impact thanks to the use of less raw materials and energy resources.
