Indoor dry flooring system

ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana is a radical change in the traditional concept of ceramic floors although it maintains all its qualities while turning a static element into a dynamic and flexible system.
Its installation is extremely simple and versatile, its finishes are of great aesthetic value, it is resistant to both distributed and concentrated loads and proves to be the ideal solution for floors installed in exhibition spaces, shows, trade fair stands, showrooms, temporary shops, historical buildings and museum installations (to protect ancient and precious surfaces) and any other environment in the tertiary, commercial and residential sectors.

The ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana dry laying system, can be laid down in just a few seconds and walked over and used straightaway.

With no glue or expensive primers, a steady surface may be created and laid out in countless shapes and patterns, with a simple male/female anchoring system.

Not only each piece can be quickly laid down, but it can also be as quickly removed and reused somewhere else or for something else, thus optimising your investment, its eco-friendliness, the recycling chain and the sustainability process. Repairs, extensions and refits can be completed in just a few gestures.

Without any dust or dirt!

Thanks to ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana, Casalgrande Padana provides a technically exhaustive and aesthetically sophisticated solution to meet the most complex needs of builders and designers. Individual panels are directly laid on the concrete screed or pre-existing floor.

The connection between elements is ensured by a vertical axis tongue and groove perimeter joint system ensuring stability and preventing horizontal movements due to tangent loads on the module. Each element is connected and forms an immediately treadable floor leading to the aesthetic renovation of the environment, eliminating long traditional installation operations and ensuring a clean building site.

Each ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana element is composed of a 20x120, 30x60, 60x60, 60x120 and 90x90 cm porcelain stoneware slab selected from the very broad Casalgrande Padana product range connected to a support and a special perimeter edge.
The load-bearing feature is a very strong material. Depending on the use, it is made of reinforced polystyrene or fibreglass-reinforced plaster. With a combination of highly reticulated polyurethane, the backing sticks to the porcelain stoneware tile, binding it into a multi-layered system where the outer couplings become the joints.

The final result is a finished floor with 3 mm standard joints, the colour of which may be chosen as you like, depending on the ceramic surface.

Combined with extraordinary features, such pieces may be used to create a smart floor.
By integrating detectors and control units, you can for example measure traffic in shopping centres, adjust lighting and air conditioning, thus paving the way to innovative opportunities in this area.
In addition, all wiring and powering is simply and elegantly designed, using a variety of cable trays and switch boxes that can be installed in many different ways.

One of the strengths of ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana is that it is waterproof. The joint system and an effective waterproof gasket prevent liquids from leaking through the bedding, protect the layers underneath and ensure maximum freedom in terms of cleaning, from traditional hand cleaning to the use of professional equipment.

A quickly accessible and treadable floor is certainly important, especially in the commercial sector, but ensuring load resistance is equally important. ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana was conceived and developed to meet operation needs also in environments subject to great concentrated and tangent loads, such as motor vehicle showrooms, commercial spaces, offices with many visitors.

Strict lab tests have confirmed its resistance against concentrated loads of up to 2000 kg per individual panel.

Safety and the quality of materials have always been fundamental prerequisites upon which the production of Casalgrande Padana is based. In terms of fireproof standards, the new floating system combines the fireproof qualities of both porcelain stoneware and the support material, with Bfl-s1, EN 13501-1 fire reaction classes.
Consequently, ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana panels may be used in public venues subject to specific fireproof requirements classified as class 1 or lower pursuant to the Italian Ministerial Decree dated 16th February 1982.

To meet the needs of todays designers aimed at energetic efficiency, ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana comes in two different configurations of the support package: one saturated with foam polystyrene, the other with fibreglass-reinforced plaster. The new generation buildings are expected to reduce heat dispersion of all surfaces.

To this aim, an important role is played by treadable floors and surfaces. ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana with polystyrene, thanks to its extremely low thermal conductivity (ë=0,04 Wm-1K-1), reduces heat dispersion through floors and contributes to the positive thermal balance of the building. Modern system design is strongly focussed on new low-temperature and high-efficiency radiation heat systems. ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana with fibreglass-reinforced plaster was developed ad hoc for this type of applications (floor radiation systems).

Fibreglass-reinforced plaster is a heat conductor (ë=0,32 Wm-1K-1) facilitating the accumulation and correct radiation of heat into the environment.

Sound insulation is a fundamental prerequisite to ensure comfort and wellbeing in all buildings for residential, working or public purposes (hotels, hospitals, homes for the elderly) determined by specific performance regulations.

The ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana system, thanks to the soundproof properties of its support, contributes remarkably to the maximisation of noise dampening compared to traditional floors.

Lab tests have measured noise reduction levels ranging from 16 to 31 dB, up to 35 dB if the support is filled with fibreglass-reinforced plaster.

ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana does not limit the creativity of architects and designers in any way.
The surface finish of modules may be implemented by selecting one of the numerous 20x12030x6060x6060x120 and 90x90 cm slabs of the GranitogresPietre Native and Granitoker lines and any of the surfaces included in the very broad range supplied by Casalgrande Padana.

ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana in unglazed porcelain stoneware, is the ideal choice for residential architecture, office and shop floors and the refurbishing of pre-existing buildings. The broad range of colours supplied by this line is complemented by the following sophisticated slab surface: naturalpolishedsatin and structured.

ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana  in unglazed porcelain stoneware, provides a faithful replica of the colours and surface finishes of natural stones but still ensures the easy maintenance and high mechanical and chemical standards characterizing all products by Casalgrande Padana.

The slabs  are the ideal solution for residential buildings but are also suitable for commercial buildings and restoration works; it is the ideal solution for floors in new buildings and restoration works.

The installation of the ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana is simple and quick and may take place in four simple steps:

1. For perfect installation, clean the bottom surface thoroughly so as to obtain a levelled and clean surface. These prerequisites are paramount to ensure the best results of the floating system.

2. After having identified the starting point of the floor, place the first ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana element. Please achieve the maximum possible precision in installing the first element, since all adjacent elements will be installed accordingly.

3. Place adjacent elements so that their tongue and groove joints coincide along the edges of the panels. Remove any residue and dust that may be present in the edge groove.

4. After having placed the elements, delicately press along the edges so as to connect the joints perfectly. After the connection, the result is an immediately accessible and treadable floor. We suggest you leave a 5 - 6 mm gap between the installed element and the wall near perimeter walls. That gap may be later filled with neuter or acetic silicon-based sealant.

To ensure the perfect connection of the silicon joint and the edge of the panel, we suggest you clean the groove thoroughly before injecting the sealant so as to eliminate residues and dust.
For normal cutting operations of ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana panels, we suggest you use horizontal knives or diamond disks. After cutting, clean the element thoroughly to remove unpleasant dust residues that may deposit on the surface underneath. For all floor installation, cutting and removal operations, we suggest you wear individual protection devices.

For the environments which need particular requirements of footfall noise reduction, Casalgrande Padana suggests to employ proper soundproofing mats whose main purpose is to decrease the unpleasant inconveniences due to pedestrian walk. According to the environment requirements of footfall reduction, Casalgrande Padana proposes two types of acoustic insulation:
- insulating mat made by polyethylene, 5 mm thin, compressibility level 1 mm, dynamic stiffness level SD 142, for normal footfall noise reductions within common residential environments;
- insulating mat made by mineral fibers, 20 mm thin, compressibility level 5 mm, dynamic stiffness level SD 20, for greater footfall reduction, suited for hospitals, schools, homes for the elderly, etc.)
The insulating mat has to be laid in between the bottom surface and the ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana, by cleaning pre-emptively the bottom before laying the acoustic insulation.

If the need emerges for eliminating level differences between the existing installation surface and the new ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana, proposes ad-hoc aluminium coupling ramps to be inserted along the edges of the previously installed panels. To ensure the perfect connection between the joints and the ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana panels, all aluminium ramps share the same tongue and groove connection system characterizing floating panels.

The aluminium ramps come with ad hoc shaped top surface with non-slip protruding bars, whereas the section differs according to the edge of the panel to be connec

First cleaning
ArsRatio Casalgrande Padana floors are dry-installed and do not include cement or epoxy grout joints. This is why the initial acid-based cleaning is not required.
When the floor is laid while the construction works are still underway, it must be protected from being accidentally hit by debris with suitable protective film or similar products.

Ordinary cleaning
As regards daily cleaning, just wash the floor with water and normal cleaning detergents suitable for ceramic material. These detergents may contain small amounts of additives, such as vinegar/citric acid or ethanol/isopropyl alcohol, which do not damage the plastic material at the edge of each slab.
Moreover, it is necessary to be careful to use enough water to remove any abrasive material such as sand or fine gravel without scratching the surface, more specifically in the access areas.
The ceramic surfaces and joints are water repellent; as such they do not require the use of wax and/or similar protective products that, on the contrary, should never be used.
Stoneware does not usually retain stains or smudges of any kind; nevertheless, persistent stains that are hard to remove with ordinary cleaning may be eliminated by accurately using stronger and more concentrated detergents that can remove stubborn dirt and restore the floor to its original aspect. In any case such products should not be left too long on the floor, which should be rapidly rinsed with plenty of water.

Chemical products
Stoneware is resistant to all chemicals, with the exception of hydrofluoric acid, which is very aggressive against ceramic surfaces and as such should never be used. The plastic edge of every tile has shorter duration; as such any liquid spillage must be readily removed, such as brake oil, motor oil, paint or battery acid, and clean with normal detergent solutions.
By following these simple cleaning instructions, your floor will retain its pristine quality over time.
