Creative Book 10: Casalgrande Padana’s porcelain stoneware takes a leading role in architectural projects

Creative Book is a publishing initiative promoted by Casalgrande Padana to underline their commitment to the issues involved in architecture, design, and technological research, which they support and develop through the Grand Prix cultural initiative, an international architecture competition instituted in 1990 and now esteemed as one of the most highly accredited events in the ceramics design field.

Creative Book 10 is edited by Marco Mulazzani and realized in collaboration with the famous architectural magazine, Casabella. It is distributed in four languages in a new editorial layout and graphic style by the Tassinari/Vetta studio with Francesco Nicoletti. Nineteen finished works are presented, selected from more than three hundred candidates for the XI edition of the Grand Prix and awarded prizes or special mention from the international panel of judges. The works are divided into the four reference categories included in the Competition: shopping and business centres (large surfaces); public, service, and industrial projects; residential buildings; facade cladding, outdoor paving, swimming pools and spas. Each project is well documented visually with photographs and drawings, and accompanied with detailed descriptions of the specific applications of the Casalgrande Padana ceramic materials, a technical-informative sheet, and brief biographies of the designers completing the volume as an appendix.

Creative Book aims to stimulate creative thinking in the search for new experimental approaches in the aesthetic-compositional and technical-performance spheres, while demonstrating the potential opportunities provided by ceramic materials. These are simultaneously ancient but today again among the most important “architectural materials”, about which everything appeared to be already known, but that instead, thanks to commitment and the ability to see beyond the horizon, continue to surprise us with innovative new applications.
