Percorsi in ceramica 33

The awards ceremony of the 10th edition of the Casalgrande Padana Grand Prix will be held on Friday 27 May 2016 in the prestigious Aula Magna of the IUAV University of Venice, in the heart of the historical Tolentini Complex. The guest of honour, architect Simone Sfriso from TAMassociati, will give a keynote address, which will represent an ideal link between Casalgrande Padana’s competition and the topics of the 15th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, for which TAMassociati has curated the Italian Pavilion, which includes Casalgrande Padana among its main sponsors. Established in 1990, the Grand Prix is an international architectural competition dedicated to works carried out worldwide in various application fields, which have enhanced the value of Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware components, making them crucial for the architectural, technological, and functional quality of the intervention. The competition has grown over time, becoming an international point of reference for the entire sector. Edition after edition, this cultural initiative has accompanied the evolution of ceramic materials in general and porcelain stoneware in particular, bearing witness to their improvements in terms of aesthetics and performance, technological innovation, and increasing differentiation in various fields of intervention, application techniques, and interpretation by designers. Issue No. 33 of “Percorsi in Ceramica” will be dedicated completely to the 2013-2015 Grand Prix. In addition to presenting the winning projects, it will provide an overview of the first twenty-five years of Grand Prix and will talk about it with Franco Manfredini, the President of Casalgrande Padana, who is the inventor and one of the greatest supporters of this important initiative, as well as the president of the international jury in all the editions.
